                                          BEAR  :

is one of the most revered animals in native lore and legend. There are many legends of people turning into bears and bears turning into people. Bear is one of the two remaining links to the old ways ( wolf being the other ). Bear even has his own constellation. Its name is Ursus Major and it is one of the most recognizable formations in the northern sky. The seven stars of the Big Dipper are part of this constellation.

Bear  Spirit / Medicine : is the ability to see within (introspection), self knowledge, the power of the unconscious, meditation and solitude. BEAR is the guardian of mother earth. Bear also gives courage, strength and will power. Bear is a tender and loving mother but do not mistake her slow, steady gate for apathy. When she or her cubs are threatened, her speed, strength and agility will leave you no doubt that she is one of the Creators most awesome adversaries

If  Bear  is  your  Totem : , you will have a tendency to         " den " in the winter months. This can be valuable time. Use it to reflect on the lessons of the previous year and plan for the day you will emerge from the Dream Lodge and put your plans to use. BEAR  young are born in the cave den in the winter months and will emerge with their mother in the light of a new spring day. The cubs will remain with their mother for up to two years learning the lessons of bear life. So too remember that your winter plans may not bear fruit the first year . BEAR is the power of knowing and patience. When you emerge from the Dream Lodge your goals can become realities if you allow a generous portion of time to be stirred into your cauldron of  thought and work.

                          The shining water

that moves in the streams and rivers is not just water but the blood of our ancestors. You must remember that it is sacred. Each glossy reflection in the clear waters of the lakes tells of events and memories in the life of my people  The waters murmur is the voice of my fathers father.
